From the inaugural tournament in 1960 to the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany, here's a look at all the teams that have won and lost the prestigious title

The first ever European Championship final was held in Paris in 1960, with the Soviet Union defeating Yugoslavia 2-1 after extra time. Since then, the tournament has been held every four years, with the exception of 1984 and 2020, which were both postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The most successful team in the history of the European Championship is Germany, with three titles (1972, 1980, and 1996). Spain is second with three titles (1964, 2008, and 2012), followed by Italy and France with two titles each.

The upcoming Euro 2024 will be the 17th edition of the tournament and will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14. Twenty-four teams will compete in the tournament, with the winners being crowned champions of Europe.
