Chelsea Investigation After Enzo Fernandez Video Emerges

Chelsea Investigation After Enzo Fernandez Video Emerges

Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) Launching Legal Action

Chelsea is investigating a video posted on social media by midfielder Enzo Fernandez, which the French Football Federation (FFF) claims depicts French players singing a racist song.

Club Statement

In a statement, Chelsea condemned the alleged racism and stated that it is "treating the matter extremely seriously and investigating fully." The club added that it has "spoken to the player and made it clear that this kind of behavior is wholly unacceptable."

LFP Legal Action

The FFF has announced that it is launching legal action against the Argentinian Football Association (AFA) over the video. The LFP claims that the song sung by the players is "offensive, hateful, and racist" and that it "undermines the values of football and the fight against discrimination."

Fernandez Apology

Fernandez has since issued an apology for his actions. In a statement, he said that he is "deeply sorry for any offense caused" and that he "did not intend to offend anyone." He added that he "respects all cultures and religions" and that he is "committed to combating racism in all its forms."

Investigation Ongoing

Chelsea's investigation into the incident is ongoing. The club is expected to announce its findings and any disciplinary action it may take in the coming days.
