California Earthquake: Dodger Stadium Rocked During Game

Los Angeles, California

July 21, 2023

The crowd at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles went wild at the bottom of the fourth inning, but it wasn't because of a home run. The ground started shaking.

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck just south of the stadium at 4:37 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenter was located about 8 miles from the stadium, near the city of Inglewood.

The shaking was felt throughout the stadium, and many fans evacuated their seats. The game was delayed for about 20 minutes while stadium officials checked for damage.

No damage was reported at the stadium, and the game resumed shortly after the shaking stopped.

The earthquake is the latest in a series of seismic events that have hit Southern California in recent weeks. A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Ridgecrest on July 4, and a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Searles Valley on July 6.

Seismologists say that the recent earthquakes are not a sign of a major earthquake, but they are a reminder that Southern California is a seismically active region.

Experts recommend that people in earthquake-prone areas be prepared for the possibility of a large earthquake. This includes having a plan in place, stocking up on food and water, and securing heavy objects in your home.
